THE CORTILE

The Cortile, or Italian courtyard, originally held a reflecting pool in the center and a fountain at the east end. A giant fern, brought from Australia for the Pan-Pacific Exhibition in 1915, still thrives. Now an elegant tiled courtyard in an enclosed garden setting, the Cortile is surrounded by grandeur including the stained glass windows in the south wall of the Chapel.
